Indian outfits for Dussehra festival

In Hindu civilization, Dussehra (दशहरा, विजयादशमी या आयुध-पूजा) has a profound significance as it marks the triumph of good over evil, truth over falsehood, and honesty over deception. This wonderful festival is not just about burning figurines or displaying fireworks, it is essentially observed to bring positive changes in life.

Vijayadashami is celebrated on the tenth day after the auspicious duration of Navratri. People observe fast for nine days in great veneration. Dussehra is dominantly celebrated in the Northern parts of India, whereas in the Eastern region Durga Pooja is a well-known festival. The occasion is deeply rooted in religious texts and the cultural civilization of India. On this day people enthusiastically perform Pooja and adorn traditional dresses such as Lehenga, Saree and Kurta Pajama. They commemorate it as a festival of eternal hope, which reminds them that righteousness always prevails.

In the Eastern parts of India, Durga procession is carried out in which devotees immerse Durga idols in rivers and offer special prayers. There is also a tradition of exchanging leaves from the Shami tree on this auspicious occasion.
